Step up the Flame Game: Keep your candles burning right
Share
Are you having trouble with burning your candle smoothy? We got you covered. With a little care, attention and a few simple tricks, you can get your candle burn and smell beautifully. Forget the black smoke, the tall flames and the soot marks!
Trim That Wick
First and foremost, always trim your wick. Keep it at 6mm to avoid the dreaded "mushrooming" (yes! That's when the wick looks like a toadstool) and to minimize soot, ensuring your candle remains as elegant as ever.
Light It Up
With your wick trimmed, it’s time to strike that match and let the magic begin!
The First Burn is Key
Did you know that the first time you burn a candle is essential for how well it performs over time? The way the wax melts during the first burn determines how it will behave in the future due to “Wax memory”. Therefore, be sure to let the entire surface melt (which takes around 2-3 hours depending on its size) to avoid creating those annoying wax tunnels.
Good things come to an end
Avoid overdoing it! Limit your candle's burn time to a maximum of 3 hours to maintain its elegance and ensure a clean, smooth experience. Put it out gently to avoid the messy wax splatter.
Keep It Clean
Always ensure your candle stays free of debris—no one wants wick trimmings or soot marring its beauty. After each use, trim the wick and pop the lid back on to keep your candle clean and ready for its next burn.
Time to Move On
Once you’re down to 12mm of wax, it’s time to say goodbye. It's important to avoid overheating, as it could lead to damage to the jar. Then, clean out the vessel and indulge in a new Zakiya candle.
